Lies of Creationists

Thanks to a decision in Louisiana to fund religious schools, the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) program has received a fair bit of press. One the the falsehoods this program teaches is that the Loch Ness monster exists.

Some scientists speculate that Noah took small or baby dinosaurs on the Ark … [A]re dinosaurs still alive today? With some recent photographs and testimonies of those who claimed to have seen one, scientists are becoming more convinced of their existence

Have you heard of the ‘Loch Ness Monster’ in Scotland? ‘Nessie,’ for short, has been recorded on sonar from a small submarine, described by eyewitnesses, and photographed by others. Nessie appears to be a plesiosaur.

Based on this blatant lie, the so-called education program goes on to claim this disproves Darwin's theory of evolution.

Now suppose the Loch Ness monster did exist. And suppose it was indeed a dinosaur. Would this in any way be evidence against the theory of evolution? Of course not. Genuine scientists (not the fake unidentified scientists ACE refers to) would be excited over the discovery and would have no problem fitting such an animal into the evolutionary tree.

But are real scientists becoming more convinced of [Loch Ness monsters'] existence. No! To claim that is a lie.

Has a Loch Ness monster been recorded on sonar from a small submarine. No. To claim that is a lie.

Has the Loch Ness monster been photographed? It has been well established that the best photograph was a hoax. Admittedly some people do think they've photographed the monster, but no convincing photograph has ever been taken. To claim that photographs prove the existence of the Loch Ness monster is a lie.

It has long been my opinion that the "brains" behind creationism knowingly lie. In my view, they deliberately promulgate falsehoods to prop up the Genesis creation myth. The Loch Ness aspect of the ACE program is consistent with deliberate and knowing lies.

It's too bad the people of Louisiana have joined the people of Texas in funding this dishonesty through their taxes.
