Meditation 1041
Same old, same old in the Vatican.

I thought I'd lay off the new pope for a while. Let's see what he does before opening a new round of criticism.

Given my several attacks on his predecessor for continuing to ignore the corruption in the Vatican and in the Vatican Bank, I was pleased to see Pope Francis has appointed a committee to advise him on "revising the Apostolic Constitution on the Roman Curia." And none of the members, while all Cardinals, are Vatican insiders.

Looks like he's actually going to take on cleaning up the mess. Good for Pope Francis!

But wait! And I do mean wait! According to the press release...

The group's first meeting has been scheduled for 1-3 October 2013.

That's six months away. For the first meeting.

It's just more window dressing. If Pope Francis really wanted to address the mess, he wouldn't wait six months before having the initial meeting. Meanwhile, in day to day administration of the Vatican, same old, same old.

Don't hold your breath waiting for change.
