Darn Right I Am!

In Talk Back 125, Leeon asks "Are you saved?"

My answer is "Of course I am."

One of the reasons I publish "articles" such as those submitted by Leeon, and even horrendous ones such as Talk Back 124, (which I'll address in another article) with much of the content made up of carefully copy-and-pasted scripture is that it serves as a reminder of what I am saved from.

Am I saved from slavery to the words in an old book? YES!

Am I saved from trying to reinterpret those words to give them some kind of coherent meaning in a modern world? YES!

Am I saved from following rules which might have made sense to preliterate tribal nomads but which have no relevance in the modern world? YES!

Am I saved from following rules which have no moral value and no practical value? YES!

Am I saved from following rules which are completely immoral? YES! YES! YES!

Am I saved from trying to determine the intentions of a tyrant god? YES!

Am I saved from thinking myself condemned at birth because of the actions of hypothetical ancestors 6,000 years ago? YES.

Am I saved from thinking myself condemned at birth because of the actions of ancestors 3, 4, 7 or 10 generations ago? YES.

Am I saved from believing a dead man is going to return "soon". YES!

Am I saved from fearing an afterlife? YES!

Am I saved from the absolutely abhorrent insanity expressed in Talk Back 124. YES! YES! YES!

I could go on and on, but you get the point.

Yes Leeon, the answer is a resounding YES! I AM SAVED. And it is a far far better salvation then the imaginary one your beliefs cause you to offer.

I am saved to live my own life, to live a good life to its fullest, knowing it is the only one I will have.

As to your second question, Leeon, "After you die do you think you will you go to Heaven or Hell?" The answer is No.

I'll be going nowhere. I'll be dead.

Have your say...
