Ok, it's the bottom of the 9th, the score is tied at zero, the count is 3 and 2, and the pitcher has a no hitter going. Waiting for the 3-2 pitch, the batter whispers a silent prayer, as does the pitcher. Both men profess a belief in God, and both have led reasonably good "Christian" lives. Will the next pitch be a strike, or a homer? It's the last game of a 3-3 World Series, and millions are riding on the game. Is God an American or National Leaguer? Or is He in bed with some bimbo, drinking beer, smoking pot, and just watching on TV?
The Patriarch replies:
Your several questions go to the heart of Apathetic Agnosticism.
The answer to all of them is: "I don't know, and I don't care." That is the whole essence of our position towards the existence of a supposed supreme being.
