Lord's Prayer amended in France

It was reported earlier this month that the French Catholic version of the Lord's Prayer was being changed, a change equivalent to the one being made in many English versions of the prayer.

The line “Et ne nous soumets pas à la tentation”, equivalent to the English "Lead us not into temptation" is being revised to “Et ne nous laisse pas entrer en tentation”, or "Do not let us be led into temptation."

Apparently, the French Bishops have determined that the older version is blasphemous on the grounds that an infinitely and unchangeably good deity would not and could not lead people into the temptation of sin.

Fortunately, the bishops have chosen not to implement the penalty prescribed in Leviticus 24:16 against the population of France.

Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him. The sojourner as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death.
