Converting AI

Gizmodo has an interesting article on whether religions will try to convert autonomous, self-aware super intelligences if or when we succeed in developing them.
The article quotes a Reverend Dr. Christopher J. Benek of of Providence Presbyterian Church in Florida:
"I don't see Christ's redemption limited to human beings. It's redemption to all of creation, even AI. If AI is autonomous, then we have should encourage it to participate in Christ's redemptive purposes in the world."
I suppose we'll have to counter with encouraging any AI to come along to participate in apthetic agnosticism.
